The eighth edition of IPL, which went down in 2015, was another epic one, back-to-back, you know? But the final was once again a replica of the 2013’s IPL final because once again, it was MI and CSK battling it out, but the whole match was super thrilling, and filled with edge-of-the-seat moments. And today, we’ll take a look at what went down throughout the season, like who came out as the winner, who won the purple or orange cap, how much was the prize money and whatnot. So yeah, here we go now.

Final Match Scoreboard

  • Mumbai Indians – 202/5 (20 overs)
  • Chennai Super Kings – 161/8 (20 overs)

So, 24th May 2015, was no ordinary day, right? It was the day when the two super teams of IPL clashed, making the Eden Gardens in Kolkata the center of the universe for cricket enthusiasts. Picture this: Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, two giants, battling it out in what was destined to be an epic showdown. And boy, did it live up to the hype! Mumbai Indians, batting first, put up a show that was nothing short of spectacular, blasting 202/5. Lendl Simmons and Rohit Sharma were on fire, with Simmons dropping a cool 68 off 45 and Sharma adding a fiery 50 off just 26. Then came CSK’s turn, and though they gave it their all, they wrapped up at 161/8. Dwayne Smith tried to keep the dream alive with his 57 off 48, but alas, it wasn’t enough. And just like that, Mumbai Indians snagged their second IPL trophy, making it a night to remember.

Winner Team Captain – Rohit Sharma

2015 IPL Winner - Mumbai Indians

Leading the charge for Mumbai Indians was none other than Rohit Sharma. This guy wasn’t just wearing the captain’s hat; he was the heart and soul of the team. His captaincy? Stellar. His batting? Crucial. That night, Sharma wasn’t just a player; he was the architect of Mumbai’s triumph, proving yet again why he’s one of the best in the game.

Man Of The Match: Murali Vijay

So, get this: Rohit Sharma totally nailed it and snagged the Man of the Match in the finale, right? Why, you ask? Oh, just for his blazing knock that pretty much laid the foundation for Mumbai Indians’ monster total. Picture this: he smashed six boundaries and two over-the-fence beauties, showing off his knack for cranking up the scoreboard just when it mattered.

Purple Cap Winner: Dwayne Bravo

Now, onto the player who ruled the bowling alley, Dwayne Bravo from Chennai Super Kings. This man didn’t just play; he owned the season, clinching the Purple Cap by bagging 26 wickets across 17 matches. Yeah, you heard that right. Bravo was like the master of the death overs, tossing those yorkers and slower balls like magic spells, making him an invaluable gem for his team. His knack for pulling off those clutch plays? Simply out of this world.

Orange Cap Winner: David Warner

And who walked away with the Orange Cap, you wonder? None other than David Warner, lighting up the scoreboard for Sunrisers Hyderabad. This powerhouse piled up a whopping 562 runs in just 14 matches, including seven fifties. Imagine that! With an average that’s nothing short of stellar (43.23, in case you’re counting), Warner was all about launching into attack mode right from the get-go, setting a relentless pace for his team’s innings every single time.

Fair Play Award

So once again, in IPL 2015 as well, it was CSK that was awarded the Fair Play award, and at this point, it was like clear who’d win this award from the very first match, you know? It was just the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League, and CSK has won it like five times already, and in IPL 2015, they won the Fair Play award sixth time and the third one in a row.

Prize Money Of Winning Team

Because the prize money for the winning teams was bumped up to 15 Crore rupees the year before, that’s why the management decided to keep it the same in the eighth edition of the IPL as well. So yeah, when the tournament ended, and Mumbai Indians came out as winners, they won the prize money of INR 15 Crores. And just like the year before, again, the runner-up team was awarded a huge amount of 10 crore rupees, but this time it was Chennai Super Kings who won that amount as a runner-up team.
