The Kannada adaptation of the reality TV series Bigg Boss, Bigg Boss Kannada (BBK), debuted in 2013 on Colors Kannada Channel in India. Sudeep hosted the program. The program ran for 99 days, from the Grand Premiere on March 24, 2013, to the Grand Finale on June 30, 2013. Two guests and an aggregate of fifteen contestants had arrived for the show. 47 cameras were installed in the Bigg Boss house in Lonavala to record the activities that took place there.

Host and Judges of Bigg Boss Kannada 1

2013 saw the hiring of Kiccha Sudeepa to host the reality show for ETV Kannada’s (now Colors Kannada) inaugural season. He went on to host the show later.

Highlights of the Season

  • This season’s tagline, “Howdu Swami!” (which means “Yes Sir!”), was chosen.
  • Mondays through Thursdays were the days for the tasks and house activities. On Fridays, there would be a special episode called “Varada Kathe Kicchana Jothe” (also known as “The Week’s Story with Kiccha”) where the show’s host, Sudeep, would be seen and conduct the weekly eviction.
  • ‘Super Saturday with Sudeep’, the special program that aired the following day, featured an interview with the evicted competitor and a promotional event for a forthcoming movie with Sudeep on stage with a star guest.
  • Weeknights saw the airing of “Bigg Boss Unseen,” a program which featured unseen content.
  • After the season ended, a spin-off show called “Bigg Boss Autograph” that featured interviews with other candidates about their journeys was broadcast on the same period.
