Super Singer, an Indian singing competition variation produced by Vijay TV, is a Tamil-language show. The reality entertainment show allows the entire state of Tamil Nadu to audition for what they believe is the best playback recording voice. The series starts with large-scale auditions, where contestants sing in front of the judges to enter the competition. This feature has served as a platform for discovering various amazing vocalists ever since it started in season one. The Super Singer show consists of participants of various ages at different stages to become playback singers. The competition is a tough one, with participants competing in different themed rounds judged by top-notch singers and music directors. Super Singer Season 1 Winner Name – Nikhil Mathew

Vijay TV aired the super singer’s first season of the show between April 28 and August 12, 2006. Nikhil Mathew was the only person who won this contest as he captured the admiration of judges Bhushan Kumar, Aadesh Srivastava, and Alka Yagnik with his soul-touching and melodious voice. This victory opened the way for his playback singing career. Anitha V Karthikeyan from Malaysia, was next and she enthralled the audience with her varied voice modulation techniques along with good stage presence. The jury chose Sowmya Mahadevan. 5 lakh and was won by Nikhil. The final was graced by Harris Jayaraj, renowned music director.

Super Singer Season 2 Winner Name – Ajeesh

The season began on July 7, 2008, and ended its run on June 3, 2009. Ajeesh was the youngest one among the contenders. His performance and the way of soulful singing made everyone emotional. Ravi, who ended up as a runner-up, was known for his performance and songs sung with high energy and dynamics. The third place went to Renu, who was on the top for her classical singing with perfect homework with every song. This season was judged by famous playback singers, and every performance by each contender was a memorable one. Ajeesh’s grand prize was a cash prize of 5 lakhs, and he got a chance to sing in the Tamil movie Goa. Finally, the Super Singer Season 2 grand final had a special guest Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Super Singer Season 3 Winner Name – Saicharan

Super Singer Season 3 ran from July 12, 2010, to September 23, 2011. It was won by Sai Charan. He was appreciated by all viewers and judges for his consistent and wide-ranged vocals. It was months of hard work and dedication that led to Saicharan’s victory. The runner-up, Santosh Hariharan, was lauded for his versatility and stage presence. Third place holder Sathya Prakash with probing seclusion and classical abilities. As a reward, Saicharan was given a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh. Its grand finale also included a few guests of honour like A. R. Rahman and D. Imman.

Super Singer Season 4 Winner Name – Diwakar

Diwakar won the current season from 4th February 2013 to 1st February 2014. Many listen to his strong vocal cords and the way he puts emotions into songs. First runner-up and judges’ choice, Syed Subahan, showcased remarkable consistency and musicality. Sarath Santosh, the second runner-up, was impressed with his classical and contemporary renditions. Diwakar received Rs. 60 lakh and a gold chain. The grand finale featured special guests like Shankar Mahadevan and music director Vivek-Mervin.

Super Singer Season 5 Winner Name – Anand Aravindakshan

Anand Aravindakshan, an undisputed singer, won the season due to his singing talent despite having a professional background. He was declared the winner between June 1, 2015, and March 18, 2016, in the 5th season. Fareedha, known for her emotional musical performances, was the runner-up. The judges’ choice for the second runner-up was Rajaganapathy, who displayed a fusion of classical and Western forms. Anand received a cheque of Rs. 60 lakh for his efforts. The grand finale featured music director Santhosh Narayanan as a special guest.

Super Singer Season 6 Winner Name – Senthil Ganesh

The show aired from January 21, 2018, to July 15, 2018, and the victor of the season was Senthil Ganesh. Senthil, who is a folk singer, is happy about the way he was himself in front of the audience, a real style that won him votes from viewers among other nice compliments from professional judges. Rakshitha, the first runner-up, received accolades for her technical acumen and skill set. Second runner-up Malavika had a great voice and sang very well in both classical and contemporary worlds. Senthil received a house worth Rs. 50 lakh and a car. The finale featured musicians A. R. Rahman and music director Anirudh Ravichander as special guests.

Super Singer Season 7 Winner Name – Murugan

Season 7, which started on April 27, 2019, and ended on November 10, 2019, was won by Murugan. You know his voice immediately, and it is as original in sentimentality as the emotions he pours into what he does. One of the first runners-up, Vikram, was blown away by his stage presence and dynamic vocal range. Sam Vishal and Punya, who were tied for third runner-up, showed their extraordinary skills. Murugan received a house worth Rs. 50 lakh. The grand finale was graced by music director Anirudh Ravichander and singer Shweta Mohan.

Super Singer Season 8 Winner Name – Sridhar Sena

The winner of Season 8, which aired from January 24, 2021, to September 26, was Sridhar Sena. He has built up the most consistent set of performances and audience connection to take that title. Bharat K Rajesh was adjudged runner-up and praised for his sonorous voice that translated on stage. Third placer Abhilash Venkatachalam showed that he can take just about any genre of music. As part of the prize, Sridhar took home a cash sum of Rs. 10 lakh and also received a car. Super Singer Season 9 Winner Name – Aruna Sivaya

Aruna Sivaya won the 9 season, which aired from November 19, 2022, to June 25, 2023. Her exceptional vocal control and emotive singing made her a favourite. First runner-up Priya Jerson showcased remarkable versatility and stage presence. Second runner-up Prasanna Adhisesha was impressed with his technical skills and musicality. John Jerome has won the Super Singer Season 10 show aired from December 16th, 2023 to 23rd June 2024. His powerful performances and wide vocal range earned him the title.
