The Women’s Premier League is abbreviated as WPL and well known as the TATA WPL because of sponsorship reasons. It’s a women’s Twenty20 cricket franchise league in India, owned and operated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The format of the game is similar to IPL.

Women’s Premier League 2023 Winner: Mumbai Indians

The first season of women’s premier league started with great pomp and the final match was really full of excitement which was won by the Mumbai Indians and they defeated the Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets. The Delhi Capitals bat first and score 131/9 in 20 overs while Mumbai Indians chase the score before 3 balls remaining and lift up the trophy and also win the cash prize of Rs. 10 Crore (US$1.3 million).

This season was scheduled from 4 – 26 March 2023 in which 5 teams  participated and a total of 22 matches were played and the final match was between Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals.  You can get more details about Women’s Premier League season 1 here.

Women’s Premier League 2024 Winner: Royal Challengers Bangalore

The another season of the WPL is back in next year 2024 and it was scheduled from 23rd February to 17th March 2024 and once again total 5 teams participated in this season. This time Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the final match and once again Delhi Capitals missed the chance as RCB defeated them by 8 wickets and the match went to the last over and finished before 3 balls.
